Como 2–0 Sassuolo: Nico Paz Orchestrates, Douvikas Strikes, and Berardi’s Injury Adds to Neroverdi Woes

Como join Inter and Bologna at 24 points as Fabregas’ side stay unbeaten at home, powered by Douvikas, Moreno and a stellar Nico Paz.

Como continue their remarkable early-season run, defeating Sassuolo 2–0 at the Sinigaglia to temporarily move level with Inter and Bologna on 24 points. Fabregas’ side, still unbeaten at home, displayed control, technique and maturity in another statement win that strengthens their European ambitions.

The marquee change in the starting XI saw Douvikas preferred to Morata — a decision rewarded almost immediately. At the 14th minute, the Greek forward held off Muharemovic and guided in a cross-shot from Moreno to make it 1–0. Sassuolo tried to reply through Matic, who tested Butez twice, but the home side remained in command.

Nico Paz added artistry to Como’s performance, nearly scoring an outrageous airborne bicycle attempt that forced Muric into a superb save. His influence only grew as the match progressed.

Sassuolo’s evening worsened right after halftime when Domenico Berardi, one of their few bright spots, pulled up clutching his right thigh and was forced off. And Como immediately capitalized on the shift in momentum: Nico Paz produced a brilliant, visionary pass to spring Moreno, who beat Muric to the ball with a glancing header for the 2–0.

Volpato had a chance to reopen the match but struck the side netting, and from there Como calmly managed proceedings, with their technical superiority evident across the pitch. The Neroverdi leave wondering whether a sharper Pinamonti or a fit Berardi might have changed the story, but the lariani were simply stronger on the day.

Como now sit firmly in the conversation for Europe — an early-season storyline few expected, but one Fabregas’ team keeps reinforcing week after week.
