Al-Ain – Juventus 0-5: dominant Bianconeri, braces from Kolo Muani and Conceiçao

It was a dream start for Juventus at the Audi Field in Washington. Igor Tudor’s side ran riot against Al-Ain, securing a commanding 5-0 victory with an aggressive, fluid and highly organized display that wrapped up the points before halftime.

Tudor demanded high intensity from the first whistle, and his players delivered. Kolo Muani opened the scoring in the 4th minute with a towering header. Conceiçao doubled the lead with a smart finish following a dazzling run from Alberto Costa. Rising star Kenan Yildiz added a third with a brilliant curling effort into the far corner. Just before the break, Kolo Muani bagged his brace thanks to a perfectly weighted through ball from Thuram.

In the second half, the tempo dropped, but Conceiçao still had time to score his second with a superb solo effort down the right. Di Gregorio kept a clean sheet, and Douglas Luiz struck the post late on. A statement performance ahead of their clash with Manchester City.

Post-match reactions:

Igor Tudor:
“I’m happy, it’s a good result that gives us confidence. We went in strong, and that’s how we wanted to start. Conceiçao and Kolo are in great shape, but I’m also pleased with Gatti and Koop — they responded well after being out. A great beginning.”

Randal Kolo Muani:
“Very happy about the brace and the win. It’s a great moment for me and for the team. I want to stay here — I feel good.”

Francisco Conceiçao:
“We wanted to start with a win, and we did it. We work hard every day, and physically we’re in good shape. I love playing, wherever the coach puts me, I give my all.”

Manchester City – Wydad AC 2-0: Foden and Doku seal routine win for Citizens

Manchester City did not dazzle but got the job done against Wydad Casablanca. The Premier League champions took an early lead as Foden pounced on a loose ball in the box. The second came in the 44th minute through Doku, who capitalized on a defensive lapse during a corner kick.

Wydad showed flashes and came close through Mailula, but City were rarely troubled. In the second half, the tempo dropped, and Guardiola rotated his squad, giving minutes to Haaland and Rodri. The only blemish was Lewis’ red card for a dangerous high boot on Obeng. City’s goal difference could have been better, but they’ll take the points.

Real Madrid – Al Hilal 1-1: Inzaghi holds Alonso, Bounou saves penalty at the death

A fiery contest in Miami saw both head coaches make their Club World Cup debuts: Xabi Alonso for Real Madrid and Simone Inzaghi for Al Hilal. In a balanced first half, Gonzalo gave Real the lead with a counterattack finish, but Al Hilal responded swiftly via Neves from the penalty spot, after Fran Garcia fouled Marcos Leonardo.

The second half was more open. Guler hit the bar, and Gonzalo had a header saved, but the hero was Bounou, who stopped Valverde’s penalty in the 90th minute to preserve a valuable point. Al Hilal impressed with their structure and determination, while Real still looked rusty without Mbappé.

Pachuca – Salzburg 1-2: Gloukh and Onisiwo lift Austrians to the top

In a weather-disrupted match in Cincinnati, Salzburg grabbed a vital three points against Pachuca. Gloukh opened the scoring in the first half before Gonzalez equalized for the Mexican side.

With the game still tense and physical in the second half, it was Onisiwo who found the winner in the 75th minute, capitalizing on a lapse in the Pachuca backline. A big win that sends Salzburg to the top of Group H.
