Bayern Munich-Auckland City 10-0: A German Rout with No Mercy

Bayern Munich’s Club World Cup debut left no room for debate: a commanding 10-0 victory over Auckland City that was all but decided within the first 22 minutes. In Cincinnati, the German champions immediately asserted their superiority, netting four goals in the opening quarter of an hour through Coman (6′, 22′), Boey (18′) and Olise (20′).

The gulf in class was overwhelming, and Bayern continued to score almost at will. Muller added the fifth goal in the 45th minute, followed by another Olise strike in first-half stoppage time to make it 6-0 at the break.

In the second half, Kompany rotated his squad, bringing on Musiala, who quickly took center stage with a hat trick: a clinical finish in the 67th, a penalty conversion in the 73rd, and an easy tap-in after a defensive blunder in the 84th.

Muller closed out the scoring with an acrobatic volley in the 89th to seal the 10-0 victory. Bayern now sit atop Group C and have firmly established themselves as early favorites for the title.

PSG-Atletico Madrid 4-0: Total Domination by the European Champions

At Pasadena’s Rose Bowl, Paris Saint-Germain continued their excellent form from the Champions League, dismantling Atletico Madrid with a resounding 4-0 win. The scoring opened in the 19th minute, with a well-worked move ending in a Fabian Ruiz strike set up by Kvaratskhelia. The Georgian winger was also instrumental in the second goal, springing Vitinha on a counterattack in the 46th minute for a composed finish.

Atletico, pinned back by PSG’s possession game, struggled to mount a response. In the 57th minute, Julian Alvarez appeared to pull one back with a precise low shot, but VAR intervened to disallow the goal for a prior foul on Doué. For the first time, fans heard the referee, Istvan Kovacs, explain the decision live over the stadium’s speakers.

Things got worse for Atletico in the 77th minute when Lenglet was sent off for a second yellow card. PSG capitalized on the man advantage: Mayulu made it 3-0 in the 87th minute, and Kang-in Lee converted a penalty in stoppage time after another VAR check for a handball by Le Normand. With the 4-0 win, PSG sit atop Group B, while Atletico are left reeling from a heavy defeat.

Palmeiras-Porto 0-0: Intensity Without Goals

Palmeiras and Porto shared the points in a scoreless draw in Group A after a match played at a high tempo but lacking a finishing touch. Goalkeepers Weverton and Claudio Ramos starred with several crucial saves to keep clean sheets.

Porto came out aggressively and nearly scored through Joao Mario, but Weverton denied him. Palmeiras responded with a brilliant move from Estevão that went just wide. Both sides, deploying matching 3-4-2-1 formations, largely canceled each other out tactically until a flurry of late first-half chances: Omorodion and Estevão both forced fine saves.

After the break, both teams pushed for a winner. Ramos made key saves against Murilo and Lopez, while Weverton stopped Fabio Vieira at the other end. Palmeiras had their best chance through Richard Rios, but Ramos produced a spectacular double save, with Porto defenders clearing off the line. In the end, neither side could find the net, leaving Group A wide open.

Botafogo-Seattle Sounders 2-1: Narrow Away Win for the Brazilians

At Seattle’s Lumen Field, Botafogo edged out the Sounders 2-1 in a game of two halves. The Brazilians dominated the opening period with superior tempo and set-piece execution: Jair Cunha opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a header off a corner, followed by a second from Igor Jesus in the 44th minute, also from a corner kick.

After the break, Botafogo’s energy levels dipped, and Seattle came back into the match thanks to the introduction of Pedro De La Vega, who sparked the Sounders’ attack. Despite squandering some chances, Seattle pulled one back in the 75th minute when Roldan’s shot deflected off Igor Jesus for an own goal.

The final minutes were tense as Seattle pushed for an equalizer while Botafogo nearly sealed it through Cuiabano. Ultimately, Botafogo held firm to claim the 2-1 victory, joining PSG at the top of Group B.
