Berardi, heart Sassuolo: “I am in a family. Horrible to be the flag”

Domenico Berardi, symbol and soul of Sassuolo, opened his heart to the microphones of Sky Sport. Among memories, wounds, dreams and gratitude, the blackish forward proudly reiterated his role as a flag in a football that continually changes skin.

“Last year was a nightmare. But we’re laughing

“It was not a good season for me or for the team. The injury, the retrocession… all uphill. But we never gave up: we worked hard to bring back Sassuolo where it deserves. Now we are in Serie A, we are happy, but we want to finish this championship well.”.

Sassuolo as a home, always

“For me Sassuolo is a family. Twelve years ago, I was just a kid. They made me grow up, treated me like a son. I’m a man today. I’ve made mistakes in the past, but I’ve matured. And I owe this society so much.”.

“The accident made me stronger”

It was not easy to come back: “It was complicated months. But I’ve faced everything with strength and determination. I came out stronger, with a clear goal: bring this shirt up. Now we enjoy it, all together.”.

Gross and rebirth of the group

Berardi praises the impact of the technician: “The mister has fallen to perfection in this context. We had a great time with him, even in human management. He brought new ideas, made us all feel important. The group makes a difference, and this year we have shown it.”.

National? “The blue is always inside me”

“I’m always tied to the national team. I’ve had complicated times, but now I’m recovering. The call of Italy never says no.”.

A true flag, without regrets

In a time when changing teams is almost routine, Berardi remained faithful: “Being considered a flag is an immense satisfaction. But it’s not just a club: for me Sassuolo is a family. And the family is well.”.
