Frattesi deal, back story on figures: Roma offered two different trades – EXCLUSIVE

Frattesi to Roma is now blown (for now), but there is a very interesting backstory on the negotiation orchestrated with Inter: there were two players in the mix

In the world of soccer marketing, the most talked about negotiations do not always materialize. Such is the case with Davide Frattesi and his possible return to Roma, a deal that held court for weeks but ultimately did not come to fruition.

The midfielder has remained at Inter, where he is gaining more and more space with high-level performances. But behind this stay there are market backgrounds worth analyzing.

Shedding light on the matter was the player’s agent Giuseppe Riso himself, who told how the idea of a transfer to Roma was more his attempt to find more minutes for Frattesi than a real opening from Inter.

The deal, therefore, was never really close to closing, but the Giallorossi club seriously tried to find a formula that could convince the Nerazzurri management. No dice, although a deal between Roma and Inter was eventually done, but on opposite sides.

But how did the negotiations go? According to rumors gathered by our editorial staff, Roma explored two avenues to try to bring Frattesi back to the capital: both involved an exchange with a financial match, a useful strategy to contain the costs of an operation otherwise difficult to sustain.

Le due offerte della Roma: Pellegrini o Cristante e cash

The first scenario saw an offer that included Lorenzo Pellegrini as a quid pro quo, plus an adjustment of about 20 million euros. An interesting deal on paper, because it would have brought Inter a player of quality and charisma that Simone Inzaghi likes a lot, but with a hefty salary and a few too many problems in recent seasons.

The alternative proposed by Roma was a similar deal, but with Bryan Cristante in place of Pellegrini. In this case, the adjustment would have been higher to get closer to the valuation made by Inter, which considers Frattesi a player with a market value between 40 and 45 million euros.

Both hypotheses, however, were rejected by the Nerazzurri club, which chose not to deprive itself of its midfielder, believing him to be an integral part of Simone Inzaghi’s project. Who knows if adding a more important player such as Gianluca Mancini would have succeeded in unhinging Marotta and Ausilio’s all-out defense.

Demonstrating his growing importance in the Inter squad, Frattesi has already collected 18 Serie A appearances, with 4 goals and 2 assists to his credit. In the Champions League, he has played 7 games, totaling valuable minutes in the group stage and in decisive challenges. To these numbers are also added 2 appearances in the Italian Super Cup and 1 in the Coppa Italia, confirming his use in all competitions.

Numbers that speak for themselves: Frattesi is not a comprimario, but an increasingly important pawn in the Nerazzurri’s system of play. For now, Inter has closed the door on any transfer, but the market is unpredictable. Should Roma return to the charge in the summer session with an even more convincing offer, negotiations could reopen. And there perhaps the Giallorossi proposals could also find a different outcome.
