Valentin Gomez will be a new Udinese player and there is no doubt about that. The 2003-born Argentine defender from Vélez Sarsfield, after arriving in Italy on January 30 and undergoing routine medical examinations at Villa Stuart in Rome, signed a contract until June 30, 2026, thus tying himself to the Friulian club.
The transaction required no outlay from Udinese, as the player took advantage of an exit clause to free himself from Vélez. Gomez’s player card was in fact owned by the Foster Gillett Fund, which covered the cost of his release with a fee of 9 million euros. As a result, the player will move to Udine at no direct cost to the club, with an agreement valid for at least a season and a half.
Despite the fact that the winter market session closed on February 3, Gomez’s contract has not yet been officially filed with the League. However, there are no doubts about the successful outcome of the negotiation: the player has already said yes to the Friulians and his arrival will be announced in the coming days, probably by the end of the week as a free player’s signing (there is time until March 31 for free agents, Ed.).
With this addition, Gomez becomes Udinese’s third winter purchase, along with the return from loan to Lausanne of Simone Pafundi.
