Früchtl: “In Lecce with the ambition to improve myself and play.”

Christian Früchtl recounts positive feelings after the important 1-3 win at Parma: “It was an important victory because it came after defeats against Cagliari and Inter, in which we did not express our abilities to the fullest. Against Parma, however, we offered a great performance, especially in the first half. With our fans it felt like we were playing at home. We dedicate this victory to them.”

The extreme defender, who arrived on a zero-parameter basis from Austria Vienna, has a contract until 2027. The hope is to one day win a starting role, but the relationship with Falcone is more than positive. Früchtl recounts, “I came to Lecce with the ambition to play, to be a starter, and I work every day to improve. With coach Sassanelli we often joke about the differences between different styles of goalkeeping, such as Italian and German. I am learning the language and trying to grow to have more chances to play.”

Früchtl is a locker room man, a silent leader close to his teammates during matches: “I am completely immersed in the game, I happen to yell against refereeing decisions and cheer on the team. I believe a lot in everyone’s contribution, even those who are not on the field: we have to be united and always push our teammates.”

Vincenzo Italiano’s Bologna will arrive at the Via del Mare on Sunday. Früchtl talks about the Felsinians and praises Krstovic, who was decisive on Friday in Parma: “Bologna is a strong team in great form: they also beat Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. We play at home and we want to win, we hope to get a good result. Krstovic is a very strong striker. He has a great shot, but he is also very good at playing behind the goal and in physical duels. We are happy to have him with us.”
