Everyone crazy about Daniel Maldini: there’s the clause but a big one wants him now

Daniel Maldini is at the center of the market: “easy” clause and the interest of the Italian big names. Here’s why the son of art is attracting all this attention

You know that moment when a footballer goes from being an eternal promise to finally becoming a decisive player? Here, it seems that Daniel Maldini is just at that point in his career.

After all, it was to be expected. After half a season spent searching for his place in the world, a change on the bench at Monza-with the arrival of Salvatore Bocchetti-was enough to shake up the young son of art.

Bocchetti turned the tables, turning Maldini into a more incisive weapon. Before, he struggled to make an impact, with only one goal scored under Nesta’s management. Now, with two goals in the last three games and an increasingly important presence in the Brianza game, he seems to have found his balance.

Even his previous coach, Nesta, had praised him, saying, “He doesn’t even know how strong he is.” That may be true, but now it seems that Daniel is beginning to realize it.

Maldini e quella clausola che fa gola a tutti

It is not surprising that Maldini’s name has ended up in the notebooks of the big names in our league. After all, he has everything that top clubs like: technique, flair, game vision and, above all, a surname that weighs like a boulder (but at the same time knows how to attract the spotlight).

The real news, however, is that we will not have to wait long to see him play a major role in the upcoming market. Daniel’s contract includes a rather interesting termination clause: 12 million euros for Italian teams and 15 for foreign ones. A price that, in an increasingly crazy market, almost seems like a bargain.

If we consider that Monza paid him just 3 million to Milan, it is clear that Berlusconi and Galliani’s club could get a huge capital gain. However, there is a small detail: half of this money (50 percent) will end up in the Rossoneri’s coffers, thanks to the clause on future resale.

L’Atalanta ci pensa per gennaio (ma senza clausola)

But be careful, because a transfer may not necessarily have to wait until the summer. According to some rumors, one team in particular could attempt the assault as early as this market session: Gasperini’s Atalanta. The Bergamo club is facing the injury of Lookman, who will be out for more than a month, and is considering reinforcements for the attack.

Daniel Maldini, with his ductility and style of play, could be the ideal profile for Gasperini. The coach, known for knowing how to turn young promises into champions, would fit him into a system of play that is perfect for enhancing his qualities. Think about it: a fluid module, without a real center forward, in which Maldini could dialogue with the likes of De Ketelaere, Zaniolo and Retegui. And who knows, maybe Paolo’s son could definitively explode right in Bergamo.

From Monza’s point of view, the sale of Maldini would represent a bargain, but not entirely. Sure, cashing 12 million (or maybe something more) for a player paid just 3 seems like a textbook deal. But if we consider that 6 of those 12 will go to Milan… well, much ado about nothing!

The question, at this point, is inescapable: is it better to let him go now to maximize his value or wait until the summer and cash in on the prearranged amount? Most importantly, will Maldini be ready to make the leap to a club with European ambitions, or will he risk being lost like so many young promises burned out by the pressure?

One thing is certain: the Maldini name will continue to be talked about, and Daniel finally has a chance to write his own story, away from his father’s shadow.
