Roma hunting for goals: Scamacca is homesick, Giallorossi evaluate two other leads

With Gian Piero Gasperini officially at the helm of Roma, the club has begun to get its hands on the market. Among the priorities on the agenda is the attack, a department that will undergo a deep makeover. And at the center of the discourse returns an old ball of both the club and the new coach: Gianluca Scamacca.

The Atalanta striker, freshly married in the capital, has never hidden his ties to Roma, where he grew up in the youth ranks before taking other paths. According to reports today in Corriere dello Sport, he was already two years ago one step away from a return to Trigoria, which was then skipped due to economic issues. Now, with Gasperini on the bench and a Europa League won together behind him, the idea of a new set-up is no longer just a suggestion. There remains, however, a physical unknown: the year off due to the serious knee injury weighs heavy, and not a little.

Meanwhile, Florent Ghisolfi is also considering alternative solutions, again in Serie A. The names on the table are those of Nikola Kristovic, a Montenegrin forward from Lecce, and Lorenzo Lucca, who just returned from a good season at Pisa before moving to Udinese. Both are valued at around 25 million euros, and represent profiles that are young but already structured to withstand the jump to a big club.

Finally, eyes are also on Artem Dovbyk, but he will have to convince Gasperini during the summer training camp: his stay is not guaranteed, and the coach will make his assessments on the field. Roma is on the hunt for goals, and the casting for a new center forward has just begun.
