From Ibanez’s return to the Chavez coup: the summer market is set to ignite

Gian Piero Gasperini has passed through the gates of Trigoria only a few hours ago, but the soccer market engine is already running. The goal is clear: to build a Roma in the image of his idea of soccer, aggressive, dynamic, vertical. And to do so will require a real re-foundation in some departments. Talks between the new coach, sporting director Ghisolfi and the management have been thick: at least five reinforcements of depth are needed to make the team competitive right away.

Ore 13:10 – C’è anche Molina per la destra

The first name circled in red in the Giallorossi’s notebook is that of Jhon Lucumí. The Colombian defender of Bologna has perfect characteristics for Gasperini’s high pressing and aggressive defensive line. But he is not the only one under observation: Marseille’s Leonardo Balerdi and Odilon Kossounou, whom Gasp had at Atalanta, complete a shortlist of names for the central defensive role. But also watch out for Udinese’s Bijol, another name on the radar, as well as the resounding return of Roger Ibanez, now at Al-Ahli.

Ore 11:55 – Occhi sul baby Romano Matos

Among the new coach’s desires is also a “yellow and red Lookman,” a trequartista of rip and imagination. Mijnans of AZ Alkmaar and Brazilian Paixão of Feyenoord are liked, both profiles capable of giving unpredictability between the lines. In attack, on the other hand, they are looking for a number nine who can flank or alternate with Dovbyk: Lorenzo Lucca and Nikola Krstovic, two young but already internationally experienced forwards, are in the crosshairs.

Ore 10:30 – Perri o Petrovic per il dopo Svilar

Gasperini has not given up on his old darling either: Giacomo Raspadori. The former Sassuolo player, now at Napoli, cannot find space as a starter and is looking for continuity ahead of the next World Cup. At Roma he could act as a second forward, just as Gasp envisioned him in Bergamo.

Ore 8:50 – Giay del Palmeiras in cima alla lista di Ghisolfi

In the middle of the field, the dream remains Davide Frattesi, a Roma player who grew up in Trigoria and has long been on the club’s radar. More concrete, however, is the hypothesis of a loan renewal for Gourna-Douath, who has convinced with his leg and intensity. Still, another piece is needed in the midfield, especially if someone will leave.

Not just starters. Gasperini’s Roma is also betting big on young prospects. Among them stands out the name of Felipe Chavez, a midfielder born in 2007 who is leaving Bayern Munich. The German-Peruvian talent is on deadline and could arrive on a zero-parameter basis: a futuristic but intriguing coup, on which other European clubs are also moving.

The message is clear: it will be a summer of intense work in Trigoria, between evaluations, disposals and new grafts. Gasperini wants a slim squad, of a maximum of 22-23 players, all functional to his game. And every choice will be geared toward building a strong identity, one that will be felt from the very first steps of the new season.
