Milan had to win to have direct qualification to the next round of the Champions League, but on the field of Dinamo Zagreb they failed. It came a 2-1 knockout that leaves a lot of anger and bitterness.

Maximum respect for Fabio Cannavaro’s team, which played a good game, but it was too embarrassing the performance of Sergio Conceicao’s team. Unwatchable first half, seasoned also by the crazy expulsion of Yunus Musah. In the second half a little better, however still at unacceptable levels for someone called Milan.

Dinamo Zagabria-Milan: le dichiarazioni di Conceicao

Conceicao after the game spoke to Sky Sports microphones, obviously very disappointed with how things went in Zagreb.

BRUTAL MILAN – “All the episodes of the match went against us. In the first half we lacked the basics of soccer, which is made up of defensive or offensive duels, aggressiveness…. We went 20-25 minutes without letting them get to the goal, while we came in the last 30 yards missing shots or passes. On the first goal taken there was an individual mistake, it can happen. Obviously with the expulsion everything got complicated, we tried to fight for a positive result. When we equalized, we tried to win and there was another individual mistake that made us get another goal.”

TRAINING AGGRESSIVITY – “It depends on one’s pride and one’s career goal. We prepare games to have this base. Then we talk about tactics, system of play and team dynamics … We have to come in stronger, more aggressive and more present in the game. The truth is this. I liked the second half more, we wanted to win and we didn’t succeed. We have to try to change this environment, we have to do more.”

TEAM TO CHANGE – “I had 17 players, I put Tomori and Terracciano on the right, I had youngsters on the bench, someone is injured and others are not on the roster. It’s such a moment… I could have used these excuses, I could have talked about refereeing not being at the level of the Champions League, but I don’t feel like it….”
