Udinese-Venice: Runjaic evaluates trident to return to victory

Udinese, which will host Venezia at the Bluenergy Stadium on Saturday, has one goal: to return to victory. The Friulians have not won the three points at home since October 25, an abstinence that weighs on both the team and the environment. To turn things around, coach Kosta Runjaic is reportedly considering a new tactical solution: the offensive trident.

The hypothesis of deploying three forwards would result in the exclusion of Modesto. After all, in the forwards Udinese can count on physical quality and technique, elements that must be exploited to the fullest. The great protagonist could be Lorenzo Lucca, in excellent form, who needs playable balls to make an impact. A task that Florian Thauvin and Alexis Sanchez could fulfill, also considering the team’s difficulties on the outside lanes.

The challenge against Venice seems the right opportunity to test this new offensive solution. Pafundi and Bravo could be viable alternatives in the running game, while Davis, although recovering, is not yet available.

As for the defense, Runjaic will be able to count on the return of Solet, but will have to give up Karlstrom in midfield. His place should be taken by Atta, who will flank Lovric and Payero in the midfield. Zarraga, Giannetti, Davis, Ehizibue and Touré remain unavailable, absences that reduce the alternatives for the HCL coach.

The match against Venezia represents a crossroads for Udinese: a win could breathe new life into the season, while another misstep would further aggravate the situation in the standings.
