OFFICIAL – Former Bianconero Silvestri returns to Serie A (PHOTO)

After moving in the summer to Sampdoria in the cadet tournament, former Juventus goalkeeper Marco Silvestri moved back to Serie A settling at Empoli on a permanent basis. As a technical quid pro quo to the Blucerchiati, Friulian goalkeeper Samuele Perisan, who grew up in the Friulian club’s Youth Sector, moved on loan. The 33-year-old Silvestri made 94 appearances with the Udinese shirt.

Empoli Football Club announces that it has reached an agreement with Unione Calcio Sampdoria for the outright acquisition of the right to the sports performance of the player Marco Silvestri.

Marco Silvestri is an Italian goalkeeper born in Castelnovo ne’ Monti on March 2, 1991. He grew up in Modena’s youth sector and made his debut in the Coppa Italia with the Emiliani in August 2009. He then moved to Chievo, which then turned him on loan first to Reggiana, where he faced his first championship as a starter in Lega Pro, and then to Padova, in Serie B. In January 2014 he passed, again on a temporary basis, to Cagliari with whom, in April, he made his Serie A debut and won salvation. In the summer, the move to Leeds United, where he stays three seasons playing 98 matches with the English. He returned to Italy in the summer of 2017, to Verona, where he stayed for four seasons before moving to Udinese in July 2021. Last summer he left Friuli after 94 games, moving to Sampdoria, with whom he played the first half of this season. At the national team level, between 2009 and 2011, he collected six appearances with Under 21 and Under 20; in October 2020 he was instead called by Roberto Mancini to the senior national team, but without making his debut with the Azzurri jersey.
