Sosa misses Torino-Roma: bitter ending, farewell without farewell to fans

L’esterno croato chiude la stagione fuori per infortunio e senza riscatto: decisivo il lungo stop e un basso rendimento

Borna Sosa’s season ends in the worst way: the Croatian full-back will not be available for Torino’s last league match, the one against Roma, remaining in the pits due to the persistent ankle injury that has kept him off the field for the past month. The Granata number 24’s last official appearance was on Feb. 14, in the league match against Bologna: since then, only benches, separate work and a slow departure from the radar.

Da protagonista a comparsa

Having arrived in the summer from Ajax with high expectations and the initial confidence of Paolo Vanoli, Sosa had started the season as a starter on the left flank. His offensive qualities had been identified as a strength for a Torino side hunting for more unpredictability on the outside. However, as the weeks went by, his performance declined, until he lost his starting jersey also due to the arrival of Cristiano Biraghi, who took the left-hand lane with continuity and reliability.

Il finale amaro di Sosa

The ankle injury only accelerated a process of exit from the Granata technical project that seemed already underway. In fact, Sosa lost ground physically and mentally, and never managed to offer the leap in quality that the club expected from him. Torino has therefore decided not to exercise the right of redemption on the player, who will therefore leave at the end of the season.

A bitter end to an adventure that lasted less than a year and never really took off. With zero goals, few convincing performances and a long stop at the end of the season, Borna Sosa leaves Turin quietly, without even a chance to greet the Granata crowd on the field.
