Attualmente a 44 punti, Vanoli deve vincerle tutte se vuole eguagliare il miglior risultato raggiunto da Juric nel suo triennio
-3 games to the end of the championship. Three important matches more for the opponents than for Torino, which, however, for its part, has the goal of finishing the season on the rise for more reasons. Above all, beyond the ambitious and personal ones, those related to the desire to improve on past seasons, which were yes positive but not excellent. This possibility, however, is no longer there, because the granata are currently on 44 points and even in the case of three wins against Inter, Lecce and Roma they could not do better than what Juric achieved.
Juric contro Vanoli: i dati
Consistency may be the right word to describe Ivan Juric’s three-year tenure on the Toro bench. It is true that the Croatian coach has never taken the team to Europe – although he came close on two occasions – but it must also be said that with him they always ended up in the left side of the standings. That is why it is now arithmetically impossible for Vanoli to do better than him: the former Venice coach can only match the Croatian’s best result, but to do so would require all victories between now and the end and therefore 9 points. In the three years he has coached Torino, in fact, the former Southampton man has twice touched 53 points and only once reached 50. This also means that, should less than 6 points come his way – rather likely given the challenges against Inter and Roma – Vanoli would in any case do worse than his predecessor.
I numeri alla 35ª giornata
Similarly, if one shrinks the circle and analyzes the data to the 35th day of the championship, already now-given 44 points-the Varese coach has done worse than Juric, who at this point in the season had twice found himself on 47 points and once on 49.
However, there are many alibis at Vanoli’s disposal: from the market to injuries, including the component of bad luck. Not surprisingly, management and fans are nonetheless satisfied with his performance.
