Juve, new assist from United: everything changes for Zirkzee and Hojlund

Juve already working on building the roster next season: an assist arrives immediately from United for a double hit

Have you ever wondered what might happen if two of Europe’s most promising youngsters lost their untouchable status at a Premier League big name? The answer could come very soon from Manchester United, where the winds of change are blowing hard. And in Turin, at Juventus, someone is taking notes.

Next season, in fact, will be the beginning of a small offensive revolution for the Bianconeri. Should the sale of Dusan Vlahovic materialize – a hypothesis that is anything but remote – then the club will return decisively to two names already known to Juventus scouts: Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund.

Both are currently with United and, more interestingly, both could be put on the market. A key variable will be qualification for the next edition of the Champions League: without that goal, certain transactions become almost impossible. In the meantime, however, optimism seeps in. Not least because Kolo Muani, another name evaluated in recent months, is unlikely to be redeemed, leaving room for bolder maneuvers.

Zirkzee e Hojlund in bilico: United pronto a cederli

In a disastrous year for the Red Devils, destined to finish in the right side of the standings, so many balances have shifted. And those who, like Zirkzee and Hojlund, had arrived with high expectations ended up disappointing. The former Bologna man has found little space and even less continuity, also held back by some physical pains.

The latter, taken by the truckload after his exploits at Atalanta, found himself overwhelmed by pressures and expectations that were perhaps too high for a 2003 player. Ruben Amorim, called upon to put a new face on the team, has not ruled out the idea of clearing the playing field in attack.

The Portuguese coach would be ready to give the go-ahead for the departure of both if satisfactory offers arrived. And this is where Juve fits in, with the intention of taking advantage of a situation that, only a few months ago, seemed unimaginable. The knot remains the cost: United is unlikely to sell out, but if interest is concrete, creative formulas can be worked on.

Obi-Martin, il baby talento che strega Amorim

But the real coup comes from a boy born in 2007, who until a few months ago was a complete unknown to the general public. Chido Obi-Martin, a Dane with a Nigerian passport, won Amorim over with goals in the Under 18s. With Zirkzee out due to injury, the coach preferred him to Hojlund in the recent match against Brentford. A choice that says more than a thousand words. And it is not an isolated incident.

At 188 cm tall, with a ruthless goal sense (18 goals in 18 games with the youth team), Obi-Martin has burned through the ranks. After being discarded by Arsenal, he arrived at United as a free agent. A gamble that now seems already won. Amorim sees him as the center forward of the future, and that changes the game for others. Zirkzee and Hojlund, both “older,” could then find space elsewhere, perhaps right in Turin.

What can I say, the story of the baby phenom discarded by the Gunners and relaunched by the Red Devils has the flavor of those modern fairy tales that soccer loves to tell. But while Obi-Martin enjoys the limelight, two other talents are in danger of having to look for a fresh start. And if Juventus knows how to move with timing and lucidity, it could find on its hands one of the continent’s most promising forwards. Or maybe two.

The question now is: Will the bianconeri have the courage – and the financial strength – to sink the blow?
