For several weeks now there has been constant talk about the Rossoneri club’s search for a new sporting director. And for a few days an agreement with Fabio Paratici was given as a done deal. This information had been leaked from circles very close to Milan.

For experience and expertise, the former Juventus and Tottenham man seemed to have been identified as the ideal manager from whom to restart the technical project. After a season with more lows than highs, important to realize mistakes and try to fix them as best as possible. Hiring an experienced ds is a wise move, provided he is given adequate leeway.

But Paratici should not be the new Milan sporting director. There were those who leaked that it had actually been wrong to take the deal for granted and those who explained that there had been a problem inherent in some clauses that the club would have liked to include in the contract to protect itself in case of a criminal conviction of the executive for the trial on capital gains and salary maneuvering concerning his work at Juventus.

But there is also another version that has leaked out, namely that Milan would turn around after being pressured by the Italian Sports Directors Association and the Italian Football Federation (Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio).

The president of ADISE is Giuseppe Marotta, president (and CEO) of Inter Milan as well. Some insinuate that he may be behind it all, considering the negative evolution his relationship with Paratici at Juventus has had. The Italian association of ds has already taken a position, officially denying that it has written a letter to the FIGC.

Marotta himself also spoke on the subject at the Il Foglio event at San Siro: “If I blocked Paratici’s arrival at Milan? It is an urban legend. How is it possible to imagine I could have conditioned the ownership, the president or the CEO of Milan, all people who have skills, experience and are not waiting for my suggestion. Even if I wanted to, what is the accusation? What would I have done? If Paratici comes to be the sporting director of Milan I would also be happy, because they would generate additional stimuli for me, so I would be even more pissed off.”

Inter’s No. 1 has denied any involvement in the Paratici-Milan affair, saying that in fact a return of his former right-hand man to the world of soccer would give him even more motivation. Will the latter be true? Meanwhile, it should be remembered that until July 20, Paratici cannot operate due to the disqualification he ran into in the sports trial over capital gains and salary maneuvering at Juve.
