At the microphones of Transfermarkt, Simon Sohm spoke. The Swiss midfielder told a backstory dating back to 2020, when he landed in Emilia from Zurich. These are his statements:
“They had shown real interest, explaining how they saw me and what they had in mind for me. They convinced me right away even though there were offers from Germany at that time. The first period was not easy. I was completely alone, my family was far away. There were the limitations dictated by the pandemic, I didn’t speak the language, and that didn’t help the acclimatization. Then we were behind in the standings, the atmosphere in and around the team was not jovial. I was also not performing at my best and maybe if there had been an offer, I could have changed clubs, but I didn’t feel like saying goodbye already. My path as a soccer player has made me more mature and reflective.”
