Rossoneri Under-23 continue to trudge on: too many mistakes made by the club, different choices needed to be made.

Milan Futuro faced Arezzo away on Saturday and suffered a 1-0 defeat. The goal at 74′ by Emiliano Pattarello was decisive. A heavy defeat, also because today’s victory of Sestri Levanti against Pescara sends the Rossoneri to the last place in the standings of Group B of Serie C.
The Under 23 project turned out to be a failure for the club in Via Aldo Rossi, which certainly did not imagine the season would go like this. It thought it would reach a fairly quiet salvation, instead right now the team would be relegated directly to Serie D.
True, there is Lucchese facing bankruptcy, thus allowing Milan Futuro to make at least the playout. Direct salvation is now impossible: 15th place in the standings is 13 points away, an unthinkable comeback with five days left in the championship.
Milan Futuro, sbagli pesanti: bastava “imitare” la Primavera
Milan certainly underestimated Serie C, built an Under 23 team that was not sufficiently equipped to cope with the category and also entrusted it to a totally inexperienced coach like Daniele Bonera, on his first adventure on the bench.

In the winter soccer market there was an attempt to improve the staff by taking some experienced players. Shortly before mid-February there was also the return of Mauro Tassotti as a member of Bonera’s staff, but he was later exonerated and replaced by Massimo Oddo. Bonera was certainly fired too late (net of the fact that he should not really be put in charge of Milan Futuro) and the new coach inherited a very complicated situation.
Among the mistakes made upstream was that of entrusting the construction of the team to a manager like Jovan Kirovski, with no experience in Italian soccer. Why did Zlatan Ibrahimovic call a former MLS manager to take charge of an Under 23 project for Serie C? It was never explained.
Choices have been made that have not paid off at all and are inexplicable. For example, the Primavera team has been entrusted to a top coach for the category like Federico Guidi, and as head of the youth sector there is another top manager like Vincenzo Vergine. Why not also entrust the Milan Futuro project to figures of proven experience and expertise?
