Accadde oggi, 21 marzo

LAZIO – March 21, 2010. Lazio is not going through the best moment in its history: the standings are crying, Lotito has sent everyone to a punitive retreat in Norcia and has paired a motivator with coach Reja, who is practically a home separate. In full self-management mood, they visit Massimiliano Allegri’s fearsome Cagliari at the Sant’Elia, in the midst of the Europa League race.

In difficulties, however, Lazio knows how to bring out the best in itself and the Sardinian practice, if not quite solved, is already abundantly channelled on the right tracks after only four minutes, when Tommaso Rocchi burns Marzoratti and beats Federico Marchetti. 120 seconds later Cagliari came close to equalizing with Lazzari, but Muslera overcame himself and avoided the worst.

The Uruguayan goalkeeper gave the shock to his team, from then on unchallenged masters of the field, and Floccari closed out the game with eight laps of the clock before the end of the first half, with a masterpiece goal, the result of a double dribble over Dessena and Agostini and a feint and counter-feint before inflating the net. Lazio thus returned to success, which had been missing since Feb. 14, and tried to look to the future with greater optimism.

HISTORY – March 21, 1956. The stunning Anna Magnani becomes the first Italian actress to win an Academy Award. In “La rosa tatuata,” “Nannarella” plays the role of a widow who, following the death of her beloved husband, discovers she has been repeatedly betrayed and mocked by people. She then came close to a resounding encore in 1962, but her rejection of the leading role in “La ciociara” favored her friend/rival Sofia Loren, the second and last Italian actress to receive the coveted statuette.

SPORT – March 21, 1960. He would have been 58 years old today, the unforgettable Ayrton Senna, who passed away in Bologna just hours after his terrible accident at the Imola circuit on May 1, 1994, at just 34 candles. A three-time Formula One World Champion, he raced for Toleman, Lotus, McLaren and Williams, going 80 times to the podium in a single decade of racing.
