To reduce the gap from the European big names, Milan and Inter absolutely must build a stadium of their own. This is something crucial to consistently increase revenues and thus have more buying power during the soccer market.

Obviously, with much higher turnovers than the current ones, the two clubs will have less trouble making ends meet and will also be able to armor their best players more easily. The implementation of the project also has positive consequences for the area in which the sports facility will be built, namely San Siro, since there will be redevelopment.

Milan-Inter, nuovo stadio a San Siro: le ultime news

Milan and Inter Milan recently presented to the Milan City Council the proposed purchase for the Giuseppe Meazza stadium and the surrounding area, as well as the design feasibility hypothesis for the construction of the new facility included in an urban regeneration project. Paolo Scaroni, president of AC Milan, spoke at the event “Infrastructure and Sport: an asset for the country” organized by PWC with Calcio e Finanza: “Among the reasons for making the new stadium,” reports calcioefinanza.it, “there is definitely also the financial aspect: this way the accounts come back. I think that, of the 71,000 spectators we imagine, we will have about 9,000 corporate ones, which we will sell to companies. We sent the Docfap last Tuesday, the municipality should receive it, start with an allocation procedure and convene a first services conference. I hope it will happen soon because we have a deadline on the bond and that would become more complicated. The understanding is that we will buy the stadium and the areas by the summer, so we are positive.”

Scaroni is confident about the success of the operation, the collaboration with Inter is progressing positively, and Mayor Giuseppe Sala is also now an “ally.” Meanwhile, the Milan City Council has approved a resolution on guidelines for the development of activities after the proposal put forward by the clubs. With this act, the administrative process is followed up. It will be necessary to set up an Interdirectional Working Group and to start the Services Conference to evaluate the technical aspects of the proposal and verify its consistency with the January 2023 Council Resolution.

In addition, the City of Milan will publish, for a period of at least 30 days, the notice of receipt of the proposal and solicitation of any expressions of interest regarding the real estate compendium of the San Siro Great Urban Function area, including the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium. The “famous” notice.

It should be remembered that the Scala del Calcio and surrounding areas have been valued at a total of 197 million euros by the Internal Revenue Service. It will be interesting to see whether Milan and Inter will be able to go through with it. There will be no shortage of obstacles; someone will certainly try to prevent the construction of a new stadium in the San Siro area.

Should Milan succeed in its goal, it will also be necessary to understand what will become of the land bought in San Donato Milanese. There had been a 55 million investment by RedBird Capital Partners, an American company that owns the club.
