Il terzino sinistro ha rilasciato la prima intervista da quando veste la maglia granata, parlando di obiettivi e non solo
A great impact right from the start for Cristiano Biraghi, an experienced purchase from Torino’s winter market. The left-back has dropped perfectly into the Granata reality, arriving with humility and fitting into Vanoli’s tactical schemes at his best. An excellent test also against Milan for him, who a few days before the challenge against Monza gave his first interview as a Toro player.
Le parole di Biraghi
First of all, the fullback talked about how he perceived the transfer: “They were intense days at the level of emotions, I had been living in Florence for 7 years, a city not like the others from the point of view of warmth and affection. This great opportunity happened and I am very grateful to those who wanted me here, as I can start this fantastic adventure with a glorious jersey and a history of enormous respect. It has been a month of emotions: first the disappointment of having to leave Florence, then the joy of arriving here.”
Then, on his role: “I have been fortunate over the years to have played many roles, so I have acquired different skills depending on the position on the field. In recent years with Italiano we have played as a 4 and it is normal that right now I feel more comfortable playing as a left-back. At Inter, on the other hand, I played fifth with Conte. Having attacking as my main ability, I am also fine playing as a fifth forward, I try to put my best everywhere.”
The defender was already familiar with Vanoli, and he spoke about it this way: “He knows me from the experience we had together at Inter, I really like his idea of play and I think it fits perfectly with my characteristics. I found again a Vanoli similar to the one at Inter, although now he has different tasks. That year we worked a lot together because he followed the defensive phase, character-wise he always demanded a lot from the players. I perfectly espouse his mentality.”
Afterward, he stated, “I want to score in this jersey. When one starts playing soccer as a child the greatest joy is to score goals. I hope more than anything else that any goals will serve for the team, to get important points.”
He could not miss a speech of appreciation for Mihajlovic, one of his idols: “Unfortunately, I never had the good fortune to meet Mihajlovic in person, I would have loved not only to steal some tips from him on set pieces but also for his spirit, tenacity and personality that always distinguished him. I am glad that he is remembered for these great qualities.”
The former Fiorentina player will also have an important role in the locker room: “One of my goals is to help the boys in attitudes and mentality, having some experience. I will try to put that at the service of the team.”
Biraghi then talked about what it means to play for Torino: “I understood immediately what it means to play for Torino, it is not for everyone to be able to do that. I don’t want to say now if I will be a Toro player, however, I will certainly do everything to be one. If we all reach this mentality something important can be built.”
And to conclude, on the national team dream: “The national team is always a goal, but then you also have to be realistic: right now fortunately a good movement has been created with young, strong players who have a future. We have one of the best coaches in the country, I am very happy with Italy.”
