AS ROMA NEWS – They had planned and carried out a paramilitary-style punitive expedition, using a b&b as a base and choosing three different routes so as not to be identified at the border, but they lost a cell phone: now 33 Serbian Red Star ultras are under investigation for robbery and injury, writes today’s edition of La Rerpubblica (L. Monaco).
A two-year investigation, coordinated by Deputy Prosecutor Erminio Amelio, identified the and reconstructed the routes, escape routes, and hiding places used by the ultras of the Delije group to carry out the ambush that culminated in the theft of the banner from the Roma 1972 Fedayn Giallorossi group on Feb. 4, 2023, in Mancini Square. The banner will be set on fire, along with other banners, as a defacement, on Feb. 18 in the stands of the Maracana stadium in Belgrade. The boys of the Quadraro group soon returned to their place in the South Curve.
Meanwhile, prosecutors have launched the investigation, managing to identify the beaters and geolocate, through phone cells, all their movements in Italy. The investigation builds on the data contained in the smartphone of a Serbian ultras, which was found on the asphalt in Piazza Mancini when the robbery had already taken place. The Delije had arrived in Italy on Thursday, February 2, from three different airports-Bergamo Orio al Serio, Trieste, and Naples. Before converging on Rome, one component goes to Milan to attend the Olimpia Milano-Stella Rossa basketball game. At the Bergamo airport they rent two cars. Another small group descends to Rome from Trieste, while the third handful goes to visit the Naples ultras.
There are four Serbian sentinels in Rome. They settle in a b&b in the eastern quadrant. On the morning of Feb. 4, the 33 now under investigation meet in Rome. They survey Piazza Mancini, study the parking lot. And they decide where to place the two cars to ensure the most convenient getaway. Having fine-tuned every detail, the Deljies drive away from the square, only to return to the charge at the end of the game. The Serbs act sure-footed, charge into the parking lot, overwhelm everyone by turning on the boy who is placing the bag with the banners in his car. Images from municipal cameras and a video shot by residents remain: it captures the Delije’s escape. With the action over, the Serbs walk toward the Tiber embankment, scattering. The man with the stolen bag mounts a car, blending into the traffic of Romanist supporters. The only concession, thanks to contacts with Serbian criminals on Rome, is the return to the Fedayn of the “Roberto Rulli Brigade” banner, in memory of the founder who died in 1990.
