Naples, February to forget: the “good” news comes from Garnacho

Napoli, three points in four games in a February to forget: there’s ‘good news’ from Garnacho to United

Napoli, febbraio da dimenticare: anche Garnacho a Manchester raccoglie solo delusioni – SerieAnews

Napoli ended a nightmarish February. And thank goodness – they must be thinking in and around Castel Volturno – that it is over. In fact, the super challenge with Inter is scheduled for Saturday, March 1: new month, new intentions and new ambitions. The overtaking suffered in the standings by Inter was painful. Everything, however, can still be “fixed”: a success in the direct clash would bring Napoli back to first place and give new enthusiasm to the square.

It really seems that in the Azzurri’s house the winter market was also impactful on the psychological level as well as on the purely technical one. The farewell of Kvaratskhelia replaced by Okafor took away from Naples the strongest player on the roster, who was not adequately replaced.

The Georgian, on the other hand, with his goals is currently the Azzurri team’s third leading scorer behind Lukaku and McTominay but his importance in the Azzurri’s game can be seen in other data as well. Kvara for conclusions in the goal mirror and for shots made is still first; second for touches made in the penalty area and third for expected goals and chances produced.

Napoli, senza Kvara non si ride: numeri impietosi

Kvara impacting Napoli’s game as also shown by the data of a February to forget: since the departure of the number 77 the team has collapsed in some statistics. Slipping to 16th place for shots produced, 15th for big chances created even the expected goal reveals a worrying figure: Napoli 14th in the figure per 90′ and 13th for goals on action.

The numbers of a crisis that has produced the pittance of three points in the last four games, with two comebacks suffered and a slowdown so evident that it has created fears and concerns. If Napoli is crying, Garnacho is certainly not laughing. The Argentine outfielder was the number one target in the winter market; DS Manna tried hard to acquire him from Manchester United without succeeding.

In the end, it weighed the will of United, which never came down to a demand deemed congruous and acceptable, but also that of the footballer, who ultimately remained in the Premier League. A choice that, at least to see the month of February, was not the right one for the footballer.

Garnacho nell’ombra a Manchester: l’argentino non è decisivo

In Naples, he would certainly have played as a starter, especially given the injury of David Neres, out until the end of March. But how is he employed so far by Amorim? Garnacho has collected two Premier League appearances and one in the FA Cup but on only one occasion has he started from the 1′ and played the full 90′ of the match.

And from an offensive standpoint, the numbers do not help him: no goals to his credit, let alone assists. With Dorgu’s arrival from Lecce, Amorim has further sparked a turn over, with the Argentine not a permanent starter. And while he has so far netted eight goals with six assists to go with them, the last month has shown how Garnacho’s choice has not been the right one. And who knows with Garnacho in the Azzurri, the story would not have changed, both for Napoli and the player.

It is possible that the marriage could be celebrated in the summer, six months late: for sure, the class of 2004 is not enthusiastic about his employment and could consider a farewell if he does not have sufficient guarantees about his use. And at that point Napoli would be in pole to bring him to the Maradona.
