Davide Frattesi came close to a farewell to Inter Milan in January but a transfer could materialize in the summer: there are two Italian big names on him to set up a swap

Davide Frattesi and Inter Milan, a story that is likely to end sooner than expected. Yet just a year ago it seemed like the perfect marriage: a dynamic midfielder with the right DNA for Simone Inzaghi’s game and the enthusiasm of someone who wanted to finally establish himself in a big team. But something didn’t work out.
In January, Frattesi’s name had ended up among the possible departures, as his situation at Inter was not what was expected. There was no lack of interest in him, especially from abroad, but the Nerazzurri’s financial demands nipped in the bud any possibility of an early farewell. The promise of more use in the second half of the season seemed likely to change things, but the facts tell a different story: in the matches that count, Frattesi remains a turnover option, a useful, but not unavoidable pawn.
Benching in big matches, such as the one against Juventus (for 90′ out), removed all doubt: in Inzaghi’s system, the blue midfielder is not a starter. And should the coach remain at the helm of Inter again next season, then the most likely scenario is a farewell in the summer.
But who can get Frattesi? Some indication was given in the last interview by his agent Beppe Riso: the foreign market, especially the Premier League, is watching the situation with interest, but in Italy there are two teams that could be serious: Napoli and Roma. Both had already tried to get him in January and could return to the charge in June, with no small advantage over the competition: they have the right quid pro quo to sway Inter.
Napoli e Roma su Frattesi: le due pedine di scambio che possono offrire
In the case of Napoli, the hottest name is that of Giacomo Raspadori, an old Nerazzurri darling who, with the arrival of Antonio Conte, ended up on the fringes of the Neapolitan project. An exchange at par, or almost, could satisfy everyone: Inter would add a useful offensive pawn to its forward department, while Frattesi would finally have a starring role in a team making the Champions League and with a coach who esteems him.

For Roma, however, the situation is more intricate, but just as suggestive. The most credible name as a quid pro quo is that of Lorenzo Pellegrini, already offered in January, the Giallorossi captain whom Inzaghi likes a lot and who could say goodbye to his favorite team in July.
Pellegrini’s relationship with the club-and beyond-has soured, and Inter could be a perfect destination for him. A swap with Frattesi would make sense both technically and economically, with the Nerazzurri securing a midfielder of quality and leadership, while Roma would bring home a player who has never hidden his ties with the club.
What about him, which would he prefer? Both destinations have their appeal. In Rome he would return to a familiar environment, with the possibility of finally feeling like the reference point of a team that is betting on him. In Naples, on the other hand, he would find Antonio Conte, a coach who dotes on his dynamism and would guarantee him a starring role in a team that will most likely play in the Champions League. It is hard to say which is the best choice, but one thing is certain: Frattesi needs space, and at Inter he can no longer settle for a marginal role.
The summer will bring an inevitable decision. The feeling is that his future is already written, and that his Nerazzurri adventure is about to end with a different ending than dreamed of. But what will be his next destination? Napoli and Roma are ready, and the summer market will give the answer.
