Roma, Casms calls for travel ban with Bologna and Udinese over derby riots

AS ROMA NEWS – Ban on ticket sales to residents of the Lazio region and simultaneous cancellation of those already sold. These are the guidelines for the relevant Prefectures, put forward by the Committee for the Analysis of Security of Sporting Events, for the Bologna-Roma match scheduled for Jan. 12, for Hellas Verona-Lazio scheduled for Jan. 19, for Udinese-Roma scheduled for Jan. 26 and for Cagliari-Lazio scheduled for Feb. 3.

The assessments, as learned by the Adnkronos news agency, stem from last Sunday’s disturbances during the Rome-Lazio derby at the capital’s Olympic Stadium. Facts that-which emerged at the Casms meeting yesterday-highlighted the particular propensity for violence on the part of the two fans and the high likelihood that serious disturbances to public order and safety could occur at upcoming soccer matches analyzed by the committee.

On the occasion of the derby, it was recalled in the Committee, the more extremist bangs of the two supporters, starting in the early hours of the morning of the match, repeatedly sought a clash, when, with their faces covered even with the use of helmets and moving in a compact manner, they acted in such a way as to overcome the conspicuous public order device already prepared, which acted as a barricade. Not only that, intemperance toward law enforcement officers and the explosion of numerous firecrackers created an atmosphere of high tension that culminated in some ultras breaking through the filtering device, entering the stadium unchecked.

Knives, box cutters, flagpoles with applied blades, and other materials ready for use and for carrying out violent actions were found in the vicinity of the sports facility. The use of pyrotechnic devices by the ultras resulted in the burning of some parked cars. Tense moments were then recorded inside the stadium, but also at the end of the match when there was no shortage of aggression against fans and attempts at contact between the ultras bangs, which were neutralized by the police force.
