Torino this season has struggled to impose itself against the big teams in the league. Their only victory so far against a big team was on the second day of the championship, when they beat Atalanta. Since then, however, the granata have failed to repeat against stronger teams. In the derby with Juventus came a loss and a draw, while against Napoli came another defeat. Challenges against the Romans (Roma and Lazio) also ended in defeat, as did the match with Inter, in which, by the way, Zapata was seriously injured (cruciate rupture) in October.

Despite the difficulty in matches against other big teams, AC Milan represents one of the teams against which Torino has had some luck in recent years. Under the management of former coach Juric, the Granata have had a good record against the Rossoneri, managing to beat them three times in the past two years. The most recent victory was in May 2024, when Torino won 3-1 against AC Milan. The Granata team then collected two more victories against the Rossoneri: one in the round of 16 of the Coppa Italia in January 2023, won in overtime 1-0 at the San Siro, and one in the league in the same year, won 2-1 at home.
