For Naples soccer news, very important news about the Maradona Stadium is coming. Already yesterday, we had reported to you some updates on the dialogue with Mayor Gaetano Manfredi, but today more details have arisen that give a breakthrough for the Fuorigrotta facility. The home of the Parthenopeans’ matches, in fact, has been at the center of numerous discussions for months.
With the 2032 European Championships on the horizon, the facility was initially considered to host matches at the event. The current condition of the stadium, however, would prevent matches of such international scope from being held inside. Moreover, for the growth of the Naples brand, the work was necessary regardless of the European Championship itself.

“II Maradona was excluded from Monday’s dinner between Aurelio De Laurentiis and Gaetano Manfredi: the president, who has been in the city for a couple of days for a series of meetings and inspections related to the sports center, reportedly explained to the mayor of Naples his intention to change his strategy regarding the stadium and to prefer the construction of a new facility to the road of restyling the one in Fuorigrotta: too complex, considering the conditions in which it is. On the contrary: it should be torn down and rebuilt but it would take years; years in which the team would have to find a temporary facility adequate even to Uefa parameters.”

Sul Corriere si legge:
“II Maradona è stato escluso dalla cena di lunedì tra Aurelio De Laurentiis e Gaetano Manfredi: il presidente avrebbe spiegato al sindaco di Napoli l’intenzione di cambiare strategia in merito allo stadio e di preferire la costruzione di un nuovo impianto alla strada del restyling di quello di Fuorigrotta: troppo complessa, considerando le condizioni in cui versa. Anzi: andrebbe abbattuto e riedificato ma servirebbero anni; anni in cui la squadra dovrebbe trovare un impianto provvisorio adeguato anche ai parametri Uefa”.
Anche Il Mattino ha aggiunto ulteriori dettagli, specialmente sulle location alternative per la costruzione del nuovo stadio:
“Investire sul Maradona non sarebbe la scelta migliore e più conveniente. Il patron sta cercando di costruire un centro sportivo, cioè la casa degli azzurri, e le interlocuzioni con i sindaci del casertano sono fitte tanto che da quelle parte ci sarebbe una riserva di suoli pubblici e non solo molto importante. Tale da poter costruire anche uno stadio. Ipotesi seria, come quella della pista che porta a Ponticelli.
In questo contesto però Manfredi vuole chiarezza pronto a sostenere il Patron, ma a una condizione: portare progetti con solide garanzie bancarie”.
Non resta che attendere ulteriori novità, con i tempi che si restringono. De Laurentiis vuole chiudere un accordo il prima possibile e dare vita al nuovo Napoli anche fuori dal campo.
