Milan e Inter, oltre un miliardo per lo stadio: come sarà il nuovo San Siro (LaPresse) – MilanLive.it
Milan focused on sporting affairs, with a season in which to try to finish fourth in Serie A and as far ahead as possible in the Champions League. Not forgetting the Coppa Italia, a competition in which they aim to lift the trophy.
But also pay attention to off-field affairs, for example, the stadium project. The Rossoneri club has been working on it for years and hopes to finally get to the finish line. There are two options on the table: the San Siro area in Milan and the San Francesco area in San Donato Milanese. The former seems to be in pole position, as stated some time ago by Milan’s president Paolo Scaroni.
This Plan A envisions the continuation of cohabitation with Inter, so it would go back to what was planned in 2019. The two companies are on very good terms and are committed to arranging every aspect.

These are some details that the clubs will expose to the City of Milan, there is a team of 50-60 people working on drafting the documentation. The goal is to finalize everything within a couple of weeks, thus presenting the papers to the administration between late February and early March.

The new stadium would be built where the Giuseppe Meazza parking lots are today, and access would be via a “podium,” a covered structure around the facility that would replace gates and turnstiles. The design is not yet defined, and although a competition is not ruled out, Populous could be in charge of it. The American architectural firm is also based in Italy and had already been involved in the project.
Work could start in early 2027 and finish in 2030. Then the partial demolition of the Giuseppe Meazza would start, for which there is the idea of making it a museum-memorial. There should be the preservation of part of the Curva Sud and the grandstand to its right, so as to create a kind of amphitheater where other activities could arise.
At the “old” San Siro could also be located the new headquarters of Milan and Inter Milan, however, the location of these buildings has not yet been decided and the same applies to the hotel. Of course, there will be commercial spaces and parks, with great attention to greenery.
As for the investment, a portion will be financed by the RedBird and Oaktree properties, but the bulk will come from loans. There are already contacts with banks such as JP Morgan, Bank of America and Banco Bpm. Other names may also emerge soon.
Early estimates indicate that Milan and Inter Milan should have an increase in stadium revenues from 80 to 130 million per season for each of the clubs. Not bad, a major turnaround that would help narrow the gap to Europe’s biggies.
