PENZO POSITIVE

AS ROMA NEWS – Roma needed only a Paulo Dybala penalty, earned by the usual, decisive Angelino, to rout the Penzo and score their second consecutive away win. The Giallorossi have not lost in the league since Dec. 15 last year, when they slipped disastrously in Como: since then, five wins and three draws for Ranieri’s boys, whose merits as coach remain unquestionable.

The game in Venice does not steal the eye or warm the hearts of the fans, who were in turmoil after the words of the Testaccino coach (who plays the manager’s role) in the pre-match conference, but it does allow Roma not to be swallowed up by the controversy and discontent in the environment. “When I know something I say it, the fans love clarity,” Ranieri chimed in yesterday before and after the game won in the lagoon. Words, however, that only half convince the square.

Little to say about the 1-0 win at the Penzo: very modest Di Francesco’s Venezia, unable to trouble Svilar in 95 minutes of the game. Roma, with fewer new players on the field than expected, played a decent first half in which they created two or three crisp goals without, however, having the right quality to materialize them. In the second half, in the best moment of the Veneti, comes the episode that decides the match: Angelino touches the ball before Marcandalli and is touched, Zufferli can do nothing but whistle the penalty. From the penalty spot the specialist Dybala confirms himself infallible. Venezia attempted a sterile reaction as the field became increasingly heavy from the incessant rain that fell throughout the match. Roma did not create anything more, but did not even risk it and took home the three points.

Ranieri gloats and spends honeyed words for his boys, even if the situation in the league, despite the positive streak, now seems inevitably compromised: the distance from the top of the standings is too wide, with the gap from the top six that, barring miracles, remains difficult to close. Now head to Porto, a fundamental crossroads in a season that remains troubled: the Europa League is the main goal of this Roma side that, amidst a thousand difficulties, is still trying to think positive.
