Ieri il Torino ha pareggiato 1-1 contro il Genoa subendo una rimonta dopo averne invece portate a casa una serie
Yesterday Torino drew 1-1 against Genoa amid protests by the granata for a fairly obvious penalty not awarded. Vanoli’s team had taken the lead in the first half recovery with an own goal by Thorsby on a corner kick. The Ligurians then equalized the challenge in the 68′ minute through Pinamonti on a setting error by Coco. The Granata then suffered a comeback. This had not happened since the challenge against Monza. It too had ended 1-1 this time to score for Toro had been Masina. The match against the Brianzoli was being staged on the 13th day of Serie A, and for the next 11 games Vanoli’s team had managed not to suffer any more comebacks. In fact, one of the characteristics of this Toro was precisely the ability to comeback opponents.
Genoa, Monza, Cagliari e Milan: le rimonte subite dai granata
In addition to the comebacks suffered by Genoa and Monza, Toro during the course of the season had been reeled in on two other occasions: against Cagliari and Milan. The match against Cagliari was played on the eighth day of Serie A with the granata facing their first game after Zapata’s injury. The islanders had taken the lead with a free kick goal by Viola and Toro had turned the result around with goals by Sanabria and Linetty. But then Palomino’s goal and Coco’s own goal had doomed Vanoli’s team to return home without a single point. Against AC Milan, on the other hand, the granata had played their first Serie A match, going ahead by as many as 2 goals thanks to an own goal by Thiaw and Zapata’s goal. But then the Rossoneri laid siege to the Toro area and found the 1-2 goal in the 89th minute with Morata and the equalizing goal in the 95th minute with Okafor.
Contro il Genoa un Toro non all’altezza
Beyond the penalty not whistled to the granata, Toro yesterday threw away a good opportunity to move away from the relegation zone and get closer to more mid-table positions. Against Genoa, the three points were needed and Vanoli’s team was unable to take them home, giving away the equalizing goal with Coco misjudging the pass and giving Genoa a chance to score, a chance that Pinamonti did not waste.
