The coach at Continassa is a real conundrum to solve: management works but now comes the final test on the choice

I wonder if they are leafing through the daisies at Continassa. Or perhaps, they will have found some other method to choose the new coach. What is certain is that no one expected such an epilogue, even a curious one if you will. The management has cashed one “no” after another and perhaps unaccustomed has almost lost its compass.

The first was Antonio Conte: seduced by the Juventus lure, he thought about it before saying “no, thanks,” convinced by President De Laurentiis to stay in Naples, where there is a project and it is also ambitious. Without forgetting the substantial budget that will have enticed the Salento player at least as much as the warmth of the Neapolitan fans felt on his skin.

And so the Bianconeri certainties of seeing Conte back on the bench melted like snow in the sun. The turn to Gasperini, then, did not have the desired effects. The coach from Grugliasco was already on speaking terms with Roma, and despite a night of reflection he did not go back on his feet. Not forgetting the attempt with Simone Inzaghi, fresh from his divorce from Inter Milan and next coach of Al Hilal.

In a general marasmus, with a deep restructuring at the managerial level – yesterday Giuntoli’s farewell was official – who knows if at Continassa they remembered they had a coach under contract. In fact, two. The first is of course Thiago Motta, who was exonerated last March and may soon settle at Atalanta.

The second is Igor Tudor, who clinched qualification for the next Champions League by activating the extension clause in his contract. The Croatian is thus bound until June 2026 at Juve and will surely play in the World Cup despite his reluctance that appeared evident at the end of the championship about a nebulous future.

However, the question on everyone’s mind is only one: who will coach Juventus next season? The good names for a bench as prestigious as the Bianconeri’s and for a project to revitalize are running out. There is no shortage, however, of clues.

If in the last few days the name of Marco Silva, Fulham’s Lusitanian coach, has popped up with overbearance, at the moment there definitely seem to be other tracks. And one of them leads precisely to the confirmation of Igor Tudor. The bookmakers are sure of it: a stay of the Croatian at Continassa is quoted at just 1.57 times the stake.
