Dan and Ryan Friedkin decide to break their silence and speak to Roma fans with a message that has just appeared on the official website of the Giallorossi club. The note is a real “end-of-season message” from the two owners, but it is also an expression of intent for the club’s future. Here is the text of the statement.
“Dear Roma fans,
It was a season defined by character. With pride, resilience, and unity, Roma rose to the challenge and reminded the world what this Club stands for. Let’s fight together!
On behalf of the Friedkin family, we want to express our deepest gratitude to you, the fans, whose beating heart is the very soul of Roma. Your loyalty, passion and love for the Giallorossi colors have made this year unforgettable — and its conclusion, a source of pride.
When Roma needed clarity and leadership, we made a strategic decision, choosing someone who truly embodied the values of this club. The appointment of Claudio Ranieri was not just a response to the moment, but reflected our belief in stability, identity, and connection to our history.
We are sincerely grateful to Claudio for answering the call with such integrity and professionalism, and for a second half of the season that Roma fans everywhere can be proud of.
Roma’s journey continues with the appointment of Gian Piero Gasperini as its new coach. A coach of great experience, personality and vision. His football philosophy, deep working culture and ability to enhance talent align perfectly with the identity and ambitions of AS Roma. We believe he is the right coach for this moment and the right leader for what is to come.
Flanked by the invaluable advice of Claudio, who will remain with us as a trusted executive and senior advisor to the Ownership, we are confident that Gasperini will lead the Club to an exciting and winning future.
We also look forward to celebrating the new season with all of you on July 22, a date ingrained in the hearts of generations of Roma fans. As we approach the Centennial, we want to reaffirm our commitment to honoring Roma’s history, traditions and identity.
The respect we owe to the founding fathers is equal to the respect we owe to the sentiment of our fans. That is why, fully aware of the historical value and significance of June 7, 1927 as the founding of AS Roma, we have decided that July 22 will constitute our special day of celebration: an annual milestone and anniversary for fans and the club, united in pride and affection for AS Roma’s extraordinary historical heritage.
In addition, we are proud to announce the gradual re-appropriation of the historic ASR crest, a symbol that embodies the soul of this Club. This decision, made with deep respect for our tradition and in response to the deepest wishes of our fans, is a tribute to Roma’s identity. It reflects our belief that a Club’s symbols matter, and that honoring our roots is essential to building our future.
Our family’s commitment to Roma has never been stronger. It is a commitment to excellence, organization and a clear identity. But most of all, it is a commitment to the future of this Club, a future that includes a new stadium: a worthy home for our fans, a legacy for future generations, and a gift from the Club to this Eternal City. A majestic new Coliseum, which we promise to realize.
We are truly honored to be the custodians of AS Roma. It is an honor that binds us, a total commitment and faithful dedication to the preservation of all that makes this Club and this city the best in the world.
