Roma, Gasperini wants a new Lookman: Ghisolfi on Konatè and Paixao

With the now imminent arrival of Gian Piero Gasperini on the Roma bench, the profile of the new Giallorossi team is beginning to take shape. At the center of the technical project is the attack, a department destined for a profound revolution. While there is a need for a physically structured center forward, capable of playing the number nine role in the way required by the coach, Gasperini is also pushing for a fast, technical, moving second forward, in perfect Lookman style.

The model is clear: an offensive wingman capable of attacking spaces, playing between the lines and breaking the balance with tears and insertions. With this in mind, Roma has begun scanning the international market in search of the right profile to flank the starting center forward, which could be Dovbyk or a new signing.

Among the names being followed are those of Karim Konaté of Salzburg, a 2003-born outside forward with acceleration and dribbling skills, and Igor Paixão, a Brazilian fantasist from Feyenoord who has also attracted the attention of Marseille. Both embody the ideal characteristics for the role of second forward in Gasperini’s 3-4-2-1: unpredictability, technical quality, and the ability to adapt to the tactical demands of the new coach.

The Paixão track is particularly delicate: the player is under contract until 2029 and the Dutch club does not seem willing to give him up easily. Salzburg, on the other hand, may be more willing to negotiate for Konaté, although there is a lot of competition.

The arrival of Gasperini, known for developing dozens of young offensive talents in Bergamo, will prompt Roma to invest in a high-potential profile. The sketch is drawn: Roma is looking for its new Lookman.
