Present in the room were Lazio Region President Francesco Rocca and S.S. Lazio Foundation President Cristina Mezzaroma. Out of the one million boys attested, between the ages of 25 and 19, 47% of boys have been victims of violence, 37% perpetrators and 23% both perpetrator and victim. If in the three-year period 2021/2023 it was more girls who reported bullying, now it is more boys.

Gli interventi dei relatori

CRISTINA MEZZAROMA – The president of the S.S. Lazio Foundation reads a thought she wrote on the topic of violence, bullying and cyberbullying. “Educating is a responsibility that affects us closely and no one can call themselves out of it. Why Lazio Calcio? Because sport can send a strong, credible and concrete signal, without rhetoric and demagogy. The culture of respect is not a goal but a common path.”

FRANCESCO ROCCA (Lazio Regional President) – “We must discover the other, understand its beauty and uniqueness. I feel in this capacity all our failure, all that we institutions should have done and did not do. The element of division is the evil of our society; we first are bullies toward others. We first have to educate ourselves to discover in the other their authenticity.

Words hurt more than a broken bone. Those who have lived through it can then retaliate and in turn repeat an act of violence. We need to hold all social, civil and religious sides together. I do not give lessons on bullying because we adults are the first ones who must try to be less bullying and violent, including verbally. This is an important initiative; to conclude let me make a joke…in Rome as a Lazio I feel a bit bullied.”

SAMANTHA BERNARDI (Chairwoman Breaking the Silence) – “Hate is not virtual, and neither is pain and suffering. Bullying and cyberbullying are wide-ranging phenomena, and that is why we must be united and fight together. We must report, denounce, and not only physical violence but also psychological and verbal violence. Again initiation rites, economic violence, gender violence but also imposed doping. All together we must act toward one direction to achieve one goal: to create an important safety net.”

At 11:00 a.m. the first part of the Conference ends.
