La Cremonese è tornata in Serie A dopo due anni di assenza, battendo lo Spezia in finale playoff: decisivo De Luca, ex Torino Primavera
It was a dream night for Cremona and Cremonese, who gave themselves promotion to Serie A after a two-year absence. Stroppa’s grigiorossi capped a very successful championship that saw them finish 4th in the regular season and beat Spezia in the playoff final. First the 0-0 first leg, then the unhoped-for 2-3, scored by Manuel De Luca. A name that may sound familiar to Granata fans, because the Bolzano forward, who scored the two goals yesterday that took the Lombardi to the top flight, grew up in Torino’s Primavera team.
Cremonese in A grazie all’ex Toro De Luca
The class ’98 forward has been one of the great draggers of Stroppa’s team, scoring an impressive 11 goals and 2 assists in 39 games played. Nine of these have come between the regular season of the cadet league and the Italian Cup, while the other two at the most important moment of the season. The 26-year-old could not have chosen a better night to enter a “state of grace,” and indeed his two goals proved decisive in Cremonese’s victory and subsequent promotion.
Il passato in granata
Raised between Sudtirol and Inter, De Luca arrived at Torino in 2014, at the age of 16. With the granata jersey he started from the Under17 and made it all the way to the Primavera, even being made his debut with the first team in the Coppa Italia by Sinisa Mihajlovic and often going on the bench between the 2016/2017 season and the following one, even with Mazzarri. After that, the granata turned him several times on loan between Renate, Alessandria and Entella, before he was sold outright to Chievo Verona. From there De Luca toured a lot, until he took his own revenge with Cremonese: now, for him, the doors of Serie A open.
