Roma, triggers operation Gasp: here are the first names for the new tactical revolution

The Gian Piero Gasperini-targeted revolution has already begun in Trigoria. With the arrival of the Piedmontese coach, Roma has taken a clear direction: to mold the team according to the dictates of the “Gaspensiero,” made of intensity, verticality and functional men even before the high-flying ones. A clear change of direction, where each graft will have to respond to precise criteria: gladiator spirit and adaptability to the 3-4-2-1 that will accompany the new course.

Da Bergamo a Trigoria, passando per Scamacca

The priority is clear: at least two new defensive midfielders are needed. With Hummels already packed and Hermoso far from returning, Ghisolfi is hard at work redesigning the rearguard. Kumbulla will return from Espanyol and will be evaluated in training camp, but Roma is also probing other avenues: in pole is Edvin Kurtulus, 25-year-old Swede from Ludogorets, who has already been eyed in recent days. Also of interest are Udinese’s Bijol, for whom, however, the Friulians are asking at least 25 million, and Nicolò Bertola, a youngster from Spezia whose contract is expiring. Attention also to Simic and Kossounou, who will leave Atalanta to return to Bayer Leverkusen: two names the coach likes.

Un sì che vale una rivoluzione (ma non sul mercato)

In the offensive department there will be a half-revolution. Dovbyk is in the balance, Shomurodov is not convincing and Abraham could earn one last chance. In this context, Lorenzo Lucca is the profile that gets everyone in agreement: Gasperini has been courting him since his Atalanta days and could finally coach him in the capital. The Friulian center forward is perfect for the coach’s system, but Roma also evaluates less “physical” alternatives such as Feyenoord’s Igor Paixao and Napoli’s Giacomo Raspadori.

Gasp chiede lumi sull’esonero di De Rossi

In midfield, the stated target is Davide Frattesi. The Roman’s return remains the dream of the club, which is hoping for a favorable set-up after the Club World Cup. He has long been liked and with Gasperini could become central to the project. On the flanks, on the other hand, the coach is asking for a Gosens-like profile, and it is precisely the former Atalanta player now at Fiorentina who is at the top of the wish list. More difficult is the redemption of Saelemaekers, held back by the constraints of the settlement agreement.

L’ultima sfida per vincere

With an eye on the budget, Ghisolfi also monitors the free agent market: in addition to Bertola, Arsenal’s Thomas Partey and Angel Gomes, a trequartista leaving Lille, are liked. De Zerbi’s Marseille is also on the latter. Expiring profiles represent a valuable resource to strengthen the squad without exceeding the limits imposed by UEFA.

The impression is that Roma has already entered Gasperini mode: clear ideas, ready-made lists, and the will to waste no time. Because the new course starts with one certainty: it is not time for stars, but for battle men.
