No cups, but there’s another trouble for Milan: it’s all upset

Here’s what’s happening at Milan: the start of next season is already uphill. The point of the situation

The season is truly one to forget for Milan. The Rossoneri were beaten again yesterday. A heavy knockout, conditioned by the expulsion of Santi Gimenez, which angered just about everyone. The Mexican striker hit Mancini with an elbow and the referee after being called back to VAR decided to draw the red card.

A sacrosanct decision, but one that brought to mind the incident involving Beukema and Matteo Gabbia on Wednesday. Same foul, but no expulsion. Two practically identical episodes judged completely differently, with Milan coming out damaged in both circumstances. So it is once again the episodes that condition the final result of a match.

Episodes that helped keep Milan out of the cups. Next season so the Diavolo will not play any European competition: neither the Champions League nor the Conference and Europa League. Out of everything, but the disaster is not yet complete.

Milan, in fact, may have to deal with another problem. That of not finishing among the top eight teams in Serie A. The Diavolo is currently ninth, and if things do not change on the final day, it would find itself in for a summer of official matches.

Yes, because there are eight seeded teams that start the competition from the round of 16. The other 12 teams in the top Italian league (from 9th to 17th place) begin their adventure in early August — as happened to Napoli last year, against Modena –, starting from the 32nd finals.

Also participating in this round are the three teams promoted to Serie A in the previous season, the four Serie B teams (three relegated from Serie A plus the team that lost the final B play-off), as well as the 12 Serie B teams from 3rd to 17th place.

Meanwhile, AC Milan has announced its tour with a return to Perth, Western Australia, as part of the Pre-Season Tour 2025, where the Rossoneri will face Perth Glory on Thursday, July 31, at HBF Park in the last leg of the summer tour of the Asia-Pacific region, which also includes challenges against Arsenal in Singapore (July 23) and Liverpool in Hong Kong (July 26). Then straight back to Italy to prepare for the Cup round if they finish ninth.
