De Bruyne to Napoli, from salary to partner’s demands: the real obstacles in the negotiation

The Belgian midfielder remains in the orbit of the Azzurri, and between salary and family demands we find out what are the real obstacles in the negotiation

The track that would lead Napoli to Kevin De Bruyne remains very hot. As reported in recent days, sporting director Giovanni Manna has been talking with the player’s entourage for about a month, complete with a trip to Manchester to present the partenopei’s project. The Belgian super talent would have already accepted the hypothesis of wearing the Azzurri jersey, but there is no shortage of obstacles to overcome to close the deal.

Dealing with one of the world’s strongest midfielders, albeit no longer in his prime, is by no means simple. Especially when we think about how much De Bruyne has managed to win over the years and where he has done so. At Manchester City, which said goodbye two days ago by losing the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace, he was an undisputed king for 10 years. Now, however, it is time to move on.

Also reporting news on the De Bruyne operation is Il Mattino, which in its print edition makes clearer the obstacles related to the Belgian’s move to the Azzurri shirt. In recent days, in fact, there have been several rumors circulating about the possible reasons why the almost 34-year-old could have chosen another destination ahead of next season.

According to reports in the newspaper, the real obstacle in the negotiation concerns the player’s salary. Being able to convince De Bruyne to go from the current 13.5 million euros in salary to around 7 million will not be easy at all. The midfielder would have asked for 10, but Napoli is unlikely to go that far, especially for a player born in 1991.

Interest from Arab and American clubs, but especially that of Liverpool, then turns out to be an added difficulty for the Azzurri. If the Reds were to convince KDB with a higher financial offer, then for patron De Laurentiis there would be no more hope. What about the family affair? The Belgian’s partner has visited Naples and may even return.

The first round of houses would not have fully convinced her, but it appears to be a not so insurmountable detail. A solution would certainly be found to accommodate the demands of the De Bruyne family. The salary knot remains to be untied, which will be rediscussed at the end of this sensational championship with everything still to be decided.
