Serious and heavy statements arrive against Napoli after the recent appointment of referee Guida for Inter-Lazio: the accusation is unacceptable
In recent weeks, Pompeii-born referee Marco Guida has been the talk of the town after declaring that he did not feel comfortable refereeing Napoli.
“Soccer is experienced differently from other cities like Milan, although we had the proposal. I live the city of Naples and live in the province. I have three children and my wife has a business. It is a personal choice. I have to pick up my children in the morning and I want to be quiet.”
These had been the statements of Guida, who later added:
“When I made mistakes, it was not as safe to walk down the street as it was to go grocery shopping. Thinking about making a mistake in awarding a penalty kick and not being able to leave the house two days to do my sports activities doesn’t make me feel peaceful.”
For the penultimate day of Serie A, the very guiding referee was designated as AVar for the challenge between Inter and Lazio, with the Nerazzurri in the midst of the Scudetto race right up there with Napoli. The AIA’s choice has caused debate, sparking reactions on social media and from insiders.
Guida scelto per l’Inter, le accuse di Capuano al Napoli: dichiarazioni pesantissime
After Tancredi Palmeri, who had expressed his opinion in recent hours, journalist Giovanni Capuano also wanted to have his say on his X account. A message, his, that appears to many to be unacceptable given his profession:
“The problem with Guida’s call for Inter-Lazio (my opinion, best avoided) is not the professionalism of an experienced and very good referee who will do his job well again on Sunday night.
The problem is that there is a city – Naples – that experiences soccer by exerting unacceptable environmental pressures. That is the point.
Guida should have not made this explicit in an interview, but the question is why in Naples one cannot live peacefully with the ball, go on away trips with one’s team, be a Juventus fan or whatever, as is the case almost everywhere else.
PS – Guide will be AVar and the Var in charge is the absolute number one. So rest assured that there will be no problems.”
Serious words, underscoring of an alleged terror that would be experienced only in Naples due to phantom unacceptable environmental pressures. This is a particularly unfortunate exit and one that will surely cause discussion in the coming hours, both those leading up to the 37th round of Serie A and possibly those that will follow it.
