Milan came out of the Italian Cup final defeated and certainly is about to end the championship in a very sad way. CEO Giorgio Furlani-who, moreover, is one of those responsible for the Rossoneri’s undoing this season-has spoken bluntly of failure.

In short, for those who haven’t figured it out yet, it will be revolution again in the summer, one more time, looking for that right key that can turn the Rossoneri team around. It was hoped to end the year by raising the Coppa Italia to the sky, the second trophy of the season that would also guarantee qualification for the Europa League.

At the Olimpico, however, it ended as we all know: they celebrated Italiano, former Calabria and even Ndoye, the author of the winning goal. Milan, on the other hand, ended with another bitter evening, one to forget as there have been too many this season from the two coaches.

Theo, stagione deludente: futuro da scrivere

In a match in which Bologna deservedly dominated the encounter, it was Milan’s most representative players who disappointed the most, starting with the left chain that should be one of the team’s strengths. Rafa Leao was impalpable and in the long-distance confrontation with Ndoye he even came out diminished, but Theo Hernandez was also not up to the task.

The French full-back, in the new role that seemed to have given him more offensive thrust and almost an effectiveness of his best days, has largely disappointed, failing to trouble opponents. Yet another colorless performance in a season that has seen him perennially struggling, with only four goals and three assists in 33 Serie A appearances and a zero box for both goals and decisive passes in the 10 Champions League matches played.

A situation that has been forcing reflection at the Rossoneri for some time. In Via Aldo Rossi they are evaluating the future of the French full-back with openness even to a transfer. Last January, Como presented a 50-million proposal and the transfer did not materialize only because of the player’s desire not to move.

Il gesto di Theo Hernandez: la risposta che non si aspettava

Further evidence of how Theo is no longer considered indispensable is provided by the contract renewal talks that have been at a standstill for months now: a deal expiring in June 2026 that is currently not considered a priority for Milan executives. A clear realization also on the part of the player, who in recent weeks has reportedly made his resounding move.

As Spanish portals reveal, Theo has reportedly offered himself to Real Madrid for next season, a club where he already played before his move to AC Milan. The Merengues, however, have other priorities at the moment. The market will be managed according to the wishes of Xabi Alonso, the club’s new coach, and the Spaniard has already identified who he would like to reinforce the left-hand lane.

The former Bayer Leverkusen coach’s favorite is Álvaro Carreras, a 2003-born fullback with a €50 million rescission clause who has also ended up in the crosshairs of Manchester United, which has the benefit of the 18-million counter-exemption to be exercised by December 2025.

And Real Madrid also has an alternative to Carreras: it is Milos Kerkez, a Hungarian full-back with Bournemouth. In fact, at the moment, Theo Hernandez is not being considered.
