La sfida tra Lecce e Torino mette in palio punti importanti per i padroni di casa, alla ricerca della salvezza
On Sunday, May 18, at 20:45, Lecce and Torino will take the field at the “Via del mare” stadium for the 37th round of Serie A. Toro has nothing more to ask from the championship. In fact, the granata occupy the 11th position with 44 points. The only ambition of Vanoli’s formation could be the 10th place, currently occupied by Como.
Lecce will play a lot in the upcoming match. The Giallorossi, coached by former Toro Marco Giampaolo, are looking for precious points to center salvation. The Pugliese have struggled this season and, with two days left in the season, are in third-last place in the standings.
Lecce attacco sterile, il Torino ha una buona difesa
Torino is coming off an up-and-down season. The granata had started the championship in the best of ways, even occupying the top of Serie A. The magic and dreams of European cup qualification soon faded and gave way to disappointing results. Toro’s rearguard is among the least sore notes of the season. The Granata are the ninth best defense in the league. The attack has been sufficient, with 39 goals in 36 days.
Lecce’s offensive department is the real problem of the Giallorossi team. Giampaolo’s lineup boasts (sadly) the worst attack in the entire Serie A. With 25 goals on the score sheet, Krstovic and his teammates occupy the last place in the ranking of goals scored. Lecce is not the worst defense in the league. The Apulians have cashed in 58 goals, fewer than Hellas Verona and Monza, both of which have 64 goals conceded.
Lecce, la difesa punto debole. Torino, attenzione a Krstovic
At the “Via del mare” the victory of the hosts is a miracle. Lecce has not won in front of its public since Dec. 15, 2024, when the Giallorossi beat Monza 2-1. Since then, the Pugliese have collected 7 defeats and 3 draws, with 16 goals conceded and 4 scored. Lecce has been conceding goals for 11 consecutive games. In 7 of their last 10 games, Toro have scored at least one goal. The granata have failed to get past the opposing goalkeeper against Como, Inter and Napoli.
Lecce’s number one danger is Nikola Krstovic. The Montenegrin striker has scored 11 of the 25 goals Lecce has scored so far. The forward is fresh off the goal that gave the Giallorossi an equalizer against Hellas Verona. Toro is banking on Ché Adams, with the Scot having scored 9 goals so far and looking for his 10th to end the season in double figures. So eyes are on the offensive departments.
