“It was the most serious injury of my career. I went out on a stretcher amid applause: I thank everyone. Mentally it was difficult: I feared this injury and it came. I’m slowly recovering and I’m trying to be what I was,” these words were spoken by Duvan Zapata in an interview he gave to the YouTube channel of La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Zapata: “Un orgoglio rappresentare il Toro”
The center forward, talking about his recovery path, added, “Now in the gym I do everything, the next step is to get back on the field and I aim to be ready for summer training. I am convinced that I can return to scoring many goals.”
Reviewing his adventure at Torino, Zapata then said, “I was welcomed in a loving way. I want to be an example on and off the field and give my all and I have also changed my exultation for Toro: before I only showed my muscles like Lebron James, now I have added the gesture of a charging bull. It is a pride to represent such an important club. You go out on the field to represent values in every game, what it means to play in the Toro. I am a leader in mundane things. You have to lead by example in training, when you are together, on the field and in the game. That’s why I am a captain.”
On opposing defenders and attackers, the Colombian also added: “I have done be duels with Bremer, Koulibaly, but also with Buongiorno is tough. Then Bonucci and Chiellini. With the former we faced each other in my peak moment of form. The strikers in Italy? Retegui is proving to be the strongest. I like Lautaro and Thuram, but Piccoli is also growing.”
