It all happened on Thursday evening, when during the Europa League semifinal match between Tottenham and Bodo/Glimt, a speakerphone rang and the video captured a certain Valerio, a taxi driver by trade, scrolling through his address book on the couch at home and selecting Lotito’s number precisely. The two start chatting, and given the informal semblance of the circumstance, the Lazio president indulges in some not-so-pleasant statements toward two players in particular: Tchaouna and Noslin. In the meantime, however, a third person beside the fan, probably a friend of his, was surreptitiously filming the scene with another cell phone, all of course without Lotito’s knowledge

Still with the signings?” is how Lotito responds to the remark of the aforementioned Valerio, about a market according to the fan that was not up to the mark. “Why are you talking about things you don’t understand? Unfortunately, this is the reality,” Lotito concludes, before hanging up the phone call convinced that he has ended the matter, unaware that those words recorded without his knowledge would go viral within minutes.
