Presenti anche Molinaro e Antonelli, oggi dirigenti lagunare ma ex granata. Commozione per il ricordo di Mazzola, Loik e Ballarin
On the day of the championship match against Torino, a delegation from Venezia paid tribute to Grande Torino with a visit to Superga, the hill where the entire Granata team tragically lost their lives in the air disaster on May 4, 1949. A gesture of great sensitivity and respect, strengthening the bond between two historic clubs of Italian soccer.
Leading the Laguna delegation, in addition to managers and staff, were coach Eusebio Di Francesco, technical director Cristian Molinaro, a former Toro player, and sporting director Filippo Antonelli Agomeri, another former granata player in 2010. Molinaro wore the granata jersey for four seasons between 2014 and 2018, becoming a point of reference both on and off the field. Their return to Turin, albeit as opponents, took on a special value at such a meaningful time.
L’omaggio al Grande Torino
Venezia’s gesture of laying a wreath in front of the plaque takes on added value in light of the historical ties that unite the lagoon club with Grande Torino. In fact, three pillars of that legendary team – Valentino Mazzola, Ezio Loik and Aldo Ballarin – wore the Venezia jersey in the past, helping to write important pages in the history of the orange and green club before becoming symbols of the Granata team.
Torino-Venezia, prima della sfida il ricordo
The tribute to Superga is not just a formal act, but a profound sign of memory and gratitude to one of the greatest teams ever. A tribute to the history of Italian soccer, to its values, and to those men whose sporting and human greatness left an indelible mark.
