Milan won but did not convince much in Venice. One goal at the beginning and one at the end: two to zero is the final result in favor of the Rossoneri, who thus win three points that move the standings very little. Then again, the league has little else to say for Milan’s season: all that remains is the Coppa Italia final, the only interesting fixture in this final. Winning is still important, no matter what. And it is even more so to have not taken a goal for the umpteenth time. Between Udine, Atalanta, Inter and Venezia, only one goal conceded.
Usual game of quality and substance by Christian Pulisic, not a good performance by Rafael Leao, on the other hand: it was one of those days when he did not seem entirely focused only on the game. An aspect that often affects his performance and also the general judgment one has of him. However, Leao’s season is in line with his standards by numbers and a moment of downturn, especially now that we are towards the end, is understandable. One notable play, however, he did make, but after the substitution.

Towards the middle of the second half, Conceicao called him back to the bench: Ruben Loftus-Cheek entered in his place. Before he went to sit on the bench, DAZN cameras captured a great moment: summoned by some small fans (sitting very close to the two benches), the Portuguese approached them and to one in particular gave him an autograph on his jersey.

A great moment, probably Leao’s best of the afternoon. Who, as mentioned, failed in any way to make an impact today. Even the fans, who were very critical of him for the performance in the lagoon, talked about it. Nothing to worry about, considering that Milan has nothing else to say in this Serie A and therefore every game is just one less commitment on the calendar. Leao will have to be in top condition for the final match against Bologna: that’s where he can make no mistake whatsoever. In that case, there will be no alibi and no justification. We are sure that in Rome, next May 14, we will again see his best version as he has often done throughout this season.
