Crossed fates, old goals and possible new synergies. Tomorrow’s Inter-Roma is not only a decisive challenge for the destinies of both, the Nerazzurri with a view to the Scudetto while the Giallorossi to hope for the Champions League, but also a crossroads between clubs that have often in history given rise to market exchanges with important names. Writing this is today’s edition of Il Tempo (L. Pes).
The axis between the capital and Milan officially opened as early as January with the arrival at the Pinetina of Zalewski on loan with the right of redemption set at 6.5 million (after the renewal until 2026 of the Pole’s contract), but it could expand and take unexpected directions. Inter has set its sights on the outfielder launched by Mourinho (although it was Fonseca who made his debut in the finale of his last season at Roma) and the intention last winter was to redeem him, which is why Roma gave its consent to the renewal-bridge for another 12 months.
Ghisolfi and the Marotta-Ausilio pair also opened talks for a much more complex operation that later failed: the return to the Giallorossi of Davide Frattesi. “It costs too much,” Ranieri had said in the early days of the market, and indeed he was right. But the liking for the midfielder, who grew up in Trigoria’s youth sector, comes from afar, since Pinto already tried to wrest him from Inter’s own competition, which, however, forced him to surrender.
The low minutes in the first part of the season had made his attorney move, who had already tried in the last days of the summer session to strike a swap with another of his clients, namely Cristante. It was precisely the former Atalantino who had re-entered into some early 2025 talks that never got off the ground, however. But it is by no means excluded that Roma may return to the charge in the next market to reinforce the midfield. Cristante is a profile that Inzaghi does not mind and would allow adding centimeters to the Nerazzurri midfield.
But in the sights of the reigning Italian champions could also end up captain Pellegrini. His farewell to Roma now seems inevitable, and in Milan the midfielder could find an ideal environment for revival. Twelve months after the expiration of his contract with the Giallorossi club, his market value is no longer so high. And after the hesitations of January swept away by the goal in the derby Napoli and Inter may be back in fashion for the number seven. A crucial challenge but also an opportunity to meet and perhaps lay the groundwork for some summer deals. Inter-Roma, after all, has always provided entertainment mainly on the field, but also off it.
