Serie A halts to respect the death of Pope Francis: in the past few hours it had been announced that four of the league’s 32nd day would be postponed, but now details are coming in about the make-up.
This morning, the news of Pope Francis’ death froze the whole world, faithful and not. There was also immediate condolence from the world of football, which, as made known in the morning, decided to pause to respect the passing of the Pontiff, who, by the way, was a great soccer fan and a huge San Lorenzo fan, as well as very close to sports.
“With Francis goes a man who will be missed by everyone, not just Catholics. Francis knew how to transmit the sense of goodness, solidarity, and inclusion regardless. A man who knew how to listen before he spoke”: this is the touching greeting reserved by the president of Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis, through a social post (click here to read the entire message of the blue patron).
Just in these minutes, the Serie A League intervened with an official statement to definitively set the date on which the four matches postponed today (but which were scheduled for today) will be played.
