Smiles Sunday at Milan: penalty and exclusion one step away, Rossoneri back in the race

The Milan first team is not the only evidence this season of the failure of the current management and ownership. So is Milan Futuro, the U-23 team that, for the first time, played in the Serie C championship. A series of incomprehensible choices (first and foremost, that of entrusting the direction of the project to Ibrahimovic’s unknown friend from Los Angeles) has brought the team to the bottom of the standings of the B round.
Great faults of the club also in repeatedly confirming Daniele Bonera until last late February: in a resounding delay, the exoneration of Stefano Pioli’s former collaborator arrived and Massimo Oddo took his place, flanked by Mauro Tassotti, who returned to Milanello after many years. And the fruits of their labor have been seen in the last few weeks: today Milan Futuro managed to beat Ternana second in the standings (fresh from the resounding and unexpected exoneration of Ignazio Abate, speaking of the Rossoneri) and strongly relaunched their salvation ambitions.
Today’s victory for the young Rossoneri is the third consecutive one: nine points in the last three weeks that have allowed Milan Futuro to climb the standings and to arrive, as of today, in 17th place on equal points with Lucchese. The goal is to try to reach Campobasso, which occupies the number 15 position, the last one useful to avoid the Play-Out.
Most importantly, however, these victories have allowed the Rossoneri to gain an important margin over the last place in the standings occupied by Legnago Salus: now the gap is 8 points (with one more game) and there are three days to go. Barring resounding twists and turns, Milan Futuro has at least avoided direct relegation. However, with the current standings, it will have to play the Play-Outs, and with the current standings it should play them against SPAL. But there are other possible scenarios.

Milan could avoid the Play-Out and save themselves directly if they manage to get +9 over the penultimate in the standings (by regulation) that is, Sestri Levante. Difficult, but not impossible especially thanks to the possible assist of Lucchese. The Tuscan club is one step away from bankruptcy, this means direct exclusion and relegation instead of Legnago Salus – which would then re-enter the race for the Play-Out. All matches played by Lucchese would be cancelled, this means that Milan Futuro would be stripped of one point (the only one earned between the first leg and the return leg).
Sestri Levante, on the other hand, would have two draws taken away from them: one more assist for Milan to reach the fateful nine-point gap. If, on the other hand, the +9 were not to occur and Lucchese were to be excluded, Future Milan would still be able to take advantage because it would go to play the Play-Out against Sestri Levante and not against SPAL.
