Juve-Lecce, Tudor: “We could have been 4-0 up in the 1st half.”

Interviewed at DAZN microphones in the post-match of the Serie A victory against Lecce, Juventus coach Igor Tudor spoke. Below are his answers to questions posed by the studio.

How much has this pass-and-go gone through your team’s head?

“Some good things were seen. A very good first half and a good second half with the last ten minutes too nervous after some bad passes. Kudos must be given to the boys because they had a good match and two good goals. They could have scored two-three more and if the game had been 3 or 4-nil already in the first half no one could say anything.”

A comment on the second goal?

“It’s beautiful because in going forward there is this connection with the third man finishing. These players have quality and they found each other. It wasn’t easy: if you’re not strong you don’t get it right. I’m really happy for them.”

In your list of priorities on the aspects on which to grow, what position does the one of goals conceded from header dead-ball have?

“It’s an important topic because we know we have a little bit of problems also because of the structure and also because of a little bit of inexperience. There can be these things here, but then you have to raise the tension and prepare better because now games are also decided by these things here. It’s a school, however, you have to grow fast: this is what I told the boys.”

Do you see Vlahovic becoming more and more embedded in the team?

“He had a good race and only missed the goal. He moved more than usual. He was inside and connected in support. He also attacked spaces more than the first game. I’m sorry he didn’t score because he would have deserved it. Let’s keep it going, though.”

How is Koopmeiners?

“He had a tendon problem. I’m happy for the goal. I saw him with more leg and I liked it. I am happy because this goal gives him more confidence.”

What does Juve have over the others in the Champions race?

“I don’t know. I don’t like to compare with others. As I always say, you have to focus on yourself. Looking at what others are doing and the results shifts the focus. Instead, it must always be an individual challenge against oneself and growth for the team. Other calculations are pretty much useless for a player or the team.”
